Things To Look Out For

With the weather warming up a little it is time to start watching out for nesting activity at the lake. We have several species of waterbird breed at the lake each year. One of the more easily noticed birds that breed at this time of year is the Purple Swamphen. They will quite often make their nests in the ribbon grass quite close to the bank as this one has done.

Other things to watch out for are reptiles on or near the walking paths. They will sometimes come out onto the paths and soak up the sun. They usually move off when they hear anyone approaching, but cautious walkers can be rewarded with views of all sorts of interesting creatures, like this Bearded Dragon.
