The latest bird count conducted at the lake was undertaken by members of the Lake McIntyre Management Board and the Millicent Field Naturalists. It was conducted on Monday morning the 20th April 2015.
29 species were reported, the most numerous being Straw-necked Ibis with 612 counted.

- Eastern Spinebill
- Grey Fantail
- Willie Wagtail
- Magpie Lark
- Australian Magpie
- Welcome Swallow; and
- Silvereyes.
